SharePoint Timer Job Administration

Created Issue: Manage Timer Jobs option doesn´t appear [10969]

Hi,

I would like to know if someone had or have the same problem as me:

I deployed the wsp file in my test enviorement (standalone), and everything works fine, but when I try to deploy de wsp file in my productive enviorement(farm) the option Manage doesn´t appear. the deployment process ends well, and any error message is showed.

I don´t know if I need to do something else.

Any suggestion??? thanks.

Hi there, just wanted to know if this tool catches exception when the job is already running and user scheduled to run again? If not, could you please suggest what change need to make in tool to handle such exception.

How do i create configurable properties? I can create them in the derived SPTimerJobDefinition class but they don't show in the Central Admin

As far as I remember you can only use this option when you first register the job

hi vmogoreanu,

May i know whether there is a way to set the timer job to run one-time only from the "Manage Timer Job" interface? As from what I've seen, the "one-time" option is disabled.

Your help is greatly appreciated. =)

Closed Issue: Cannot create a content database job lock type with a server specified [5429]

I accidentally clicked the Delete button when editing a Workflow Auto Cleanup job. I begin the process of adding a job to the application. First I copied the parameters from this same job from other applications, as they're all the same:

Class: Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWorkflowAutoCleanJobDefinition, Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c
Name: job-workflow-autoclean
Lock Type: Content Database

I then select the application I deleted from, click Add Job. On the Job Definition Properties page I enter these parameters. I click Next, which takes me to the screen to enter the schedule. I select Daily, 22:00:00 to 06:00:00, and click Save. The page returns with the following in red: Cannot create a content database job lock type with a server specified.

I've tried this multiple times with various schedules. Nothing sets the job.

The solution provides a simple mechanism for modifying the timer jobs deployed within SharePoint, without needing to redeploy them.

It also helps to deploy your own custom timer jobs, update job persisted properties and schedule without the need to write installer

Deploy SharePoint solution (.wsp file) to the farm using SharePoint Central Administration or stsadm utility. After deploying the solution 'Manage Timer Jobs' link will appear on the Operations page, in the Global Configuration section

Fixed issues with adding jobs with SPJobLockType.ContentDatabase
Delete button is now disabled for Microsoft.* jobs to prevent users from accidentally deleting them

2. Click 'Add Job' to add new custom timer job definition or click job title to edit or delete a job. If 'Add Job' link is not visible please select either 'Web Application' or 'Service' in the view drop down menu
